Why Him?
Details
In the movie Why Him? (2016), Ned Fleming's peaceful holiday gathering is thrown into chaos when he discovers that his daughter's boyfriend, Laird Mayhew, a wealthy Silicon Valley businessman, is preparing to propose. Ned is a loving but traditional father who struggles to accept Laird's eccentric and outrageous personality. As tensions rise, Ned becomes determined to prove that Laird is not the suitable match for his daughter and an intense battle of wills ensues between the two men. Ned's disapproval is further exacerbated by Laird's inappropriate behavior and unconventional lifestyle choices, which starkly contrast with Ned's more conservative values. However, as the movie progresses, Ned begins to realize that Laird's intentions are sincere, and despite their differences, he may truly care for his daughter. Why Him? is a hilarious and heartwarming comedy that explores the challenges of accepting change and finding common ground between generations. With brilliant performances from Bryan Cranston as the protective father and James Franco as the eccentric boyfriend, the film combines comedic moments with heartfelt messages about the importance of embracing diversity and the power of love.
