Kreuzweg is a thought-provoking and intense drama that follows the story of Maria, a 14-year-old girl who is deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. Growing up in a modern society, Maria leads a normal life but has an unwavering commitment to becoming a saint and going to heaven. She sees her life as a series of trials and believes that by enduring suffering and sacrificing for her faith, she can achieve her ultimate goal.
Throughout the film, Maria encounters various challenges that test her faith and dedication. Despite the influence of a kind and understanding boy she meets, Maria remains steadfast in her convictions. She believes that her devotion to Jesus is more important than any earthly relationship, and she refuses to let anything derail her from her path.
Kreuzweg explores themes of faith, sacrifice, and the power of religion in a modern world. It delves into the complex nature of religious extremism and the lengths some people are willing to go to in order to fulfill their spiritual aspirations. The film offers a thought-provoking perspective on the clash between religious fanaticism and personal freedom, raising important questions about individual autonomy and the role of religion in shaping one's identity.
