Details
In the movie Kristi sista frestelse (1988), Jesus of Nazareth, a carpenter, is plagued by the temptations of demons, the regret of crafting crosses for the Romans, empathy for humanity, and the persistent calling of God. Determined to discover God's true purpose for him, Jesus embarks on a journey. His mission gradually brings him closer to fulfilling his destiny, but he is confronted with the ultimate temptation – living a normal life as an ordinary, virtuous man.
This film, based on Nikos Kazantzakis' novel of the same name, offers a unique perspective on Jesus' trials and tribulations, not strictly adhering to the Gospels. Kristi sista frestelse delves into the internal struggles faced by Jesus as he grapples with his divine calling while also longing for the simple pleasures of a normal life.
As viewers delve into Jesus' spiritual journey, the movie prompts contemplation about the complexities of faith, the power of temptation, and the inherent conflicts that arise when one is torn between following a divine purpose and embracing human desires.
Kristi sista frestelse is a thought-provoking exploration of the human side of Jesus, told in an artistic and intriguing manner. This film offers a fresh perspective on a familiar story, inviting audiences to reflect on their own struggles with temptation and the pursuit of a higher calling.
