On November 30th, known as the day King Karl XII died, Stockholm is a city divided. This is the day when hyper-nationalist and neo-Nazi groups gather for their annual demonstrations, which often lead to clashes with democratic counter-protesters. In the midst of this tense atmosphere, the plot of West Side Story is cleverly adapted to Stockholm, creating a captivating story.
Set in the 1990s, the movie titled 30:e november brings audiences into the parallel worlds of two rival groups: the Viking Nazis and the Anti Fascists. The Viking Nazis, led by their charismatic leader, Thor, are full of hatred and aggression, while the Anti Fascists, led by the compassionate Tummen, advocate for peace and understanding.
Amidst the chaos, we follow the parallel love stories of Ingela and Jens, who belong to opposing groups. Their love is put to the test as they navigate the dangerous tensions surrounding them.
With a strong focus on the power of love and tolerance, 30:e november is an emotional journey that explores the themes of identity, prejudice, and the consequences of extremism. The movie aims to shed light on the ongoing struggles against neo-Nazi movements and the importance of standing up against hate.
Directed by Daniel Fridell, 30:e november offers a thought-provoking and heart-wrenching portrayal of a divided society on a significant day. Prepare to be captivated by its powerful performances and gripping storytelling.
